  Labor occurring after 20th week but before 37th week of gestation.
• Preterm Labor

  Management:

  1. Tocolytic - to promote uterine relaxation and delay labor. example - terbutaline
  2. Betamethasone - accelerate fetal lung maturity if preterm birth is likely
  3. MgSO4 - for neuroprotection of the preterm baby

  • monitor fhr
  • monitor DTR = toxicity
  • calcium gluconate at bedside
