  rupture of membranes before labor, and PPROM is when it happens preterm (before 37 weeks)
• Premature Rupture of Membrane

  Signs and symptoms:

  • amniotic fluid gushing into the vagina
  • maternal fever
  • fetal tachycardia (fetal distress)
• Premature Rupture of Membrane

  Management:

  • assess for signs and symptoms of infection (major complication )
  • minimize IE
  • bed rest, if not engaged, to prevent cord colapse
  • ambulation, if engaged
