  • color: dark red
  • bleeding: painful
  • uterus: tense, tender, rigid
• Abruptio Placenta

  Types:

  • concealed or covert - hidden bleeding; placenta detached at the center
  • unconcealed or overt - obvious bleeding; placenta detached at the side
• Abruptio Placenta

  Management:

  • Bed rest, left lateral position
  • No IE and internal FHT monitoring
  • FHT monitoring = fetal distress

  Couvelaire uterus - condition characterized by hemorrhage into the myometrium due to abruptio placenta, leading to discoloration of uterine wall
