    people becoming too dependent on money from government rather than working, it becomes a way of life. becomes their culture, their norms and values
  • what is culture of poverty?
    acceptance of poverty, more likely to be comfortable and fine with living in poverty as it is part of their norms and values.

    1)upper class 2)middle class 3)lower class 4)UNDERCLASS. high crime rates in underclass as they cannot afford things so they steal

    believed underclass lone parent families (usually the mother) aren't socialised correctly as men and women have different biological roles. believes the mothers cannot correctly socialise her children. no father-no discipline. different n+v.

    no father means no discipline or correct socialisation. so education influenced poor behaviour which leads to crime. OR lower academic achievement which leads to unemployment.
  • what is marketisation of education?
    league table-ranking schools and grades, increases competition. higher on table means more funding and resources. to get higher on league table, schools introduce entrance exams. selectivity means keep best, get rid of low achieving pupils.
