    Postmodernism is an action theory that criticises structural theories.

    Postmodernists believe that social institutions don't directly shape out behaviour as we have free will.

    Postmodernists believe that society has become chaotic and diverse in structure, which means it's impossible to produce an absolute explanation. Therefore Functionalism, Marxism and Feminism have become irrelevant.

    Postmodernist believe that the family is changing postmodernism. For example, the roles in a relationship are becoming negotiable instead of being based on traditional values.
  • The nuclear family
    The nuclear family is becoming less common in today's society, families such as single parent families and same-sex couples are seen more often. People also tend to prefer to choose family members rather than kinship on biology.
  • Postmodernism Evaluation
    Postmodernists may exaggerate how far things have really changed. Especially as postmodernists ignore the continuing importance of social inequalities and the ways this limits people's choices and shaping of their lives.
