Aims and Hypotheses

Cards (3)

  • Aim:
Aims are a general statement describing the purpose of an investigation. They create a hypothesis.
  • Hypothesis:
A prediction for how they think the results will turn out.
  • There are two types of hypothesis:
One tailed/Directional - the researcher makes it clear there is a difference and what they expect the difference to be between the groups or conditions
Two tailed/Non-directional - the researcher states there will be some kind of difference between the groups or conditions, but doesn't state exactly what that difference will be.
