• 1527 = Henry VIII enquiry into validity of marriage with Catherine of Aragon
• Why did Henry VIII want a divorce?

  • No male heir
  • Catherine was "too old" to have children (40yrs)
  • Anne Boleyn = demanded marriage before intercourse
