• Wundt is known as 'the father of psychology'. He opened the first psychology lab in Germany, 1879.
• Wundt studied the structure of the mind - human consciousness.
• Wundt used structuralism: separating/isolating the structure of consciousness. Wundt separated the mind into thoughts, images and sensations.
• Wundt used introspection: a person observes their own mental and emotional processes.
• Wundt studied this by getting participants to watch a metronome and write down their thoughts.
