  • A Greenfield Site is an undeveloped or unused piece of land.
  • Positives of Greenfield Sites:

    • Fresh Land, do not need to clean old uses
    • Can plan easily, no restrictions like roads and shops around.
    • Lots of space.
    • Cheap Land
  • Negatives of Greenfield Sites:

    • No electricity or gas system in place already - costly
    • May be difficult to access
    • Bad infrastructure - Schools, Road
  • Positives of Brownfield Sites:

    • Stops loss of countryside as site is already in city
    • Infrastructure already accessible - Electricity, Roads, Shops, Schools.
    • Easier to gain permission from councils.
    • Can improve eyesore infrastructure
    • Close to city - Job opportunites, Health
  • Negatives of Brownfield Sites:

    • Expensive to buy land already in city
    • Limited Plan as it has been built before - new wildlife in the way
    • Expensive to clear the old land use
  • A Brownfield Site is an old abandoned industrial area that was previously built on in the city.
