MATH 2.2 : Addition of Integers

Cards (4)

  • Three types of integers exist: positive integers, negative integers, and zero. When illustrated using a number line, positive integers are found to the right of zero, and negative integers are found to the left of zero. Positive integers are integers greater than zero. Negative integers are integers less than zero. Zero is an integer that is neither positive nor negative.
  • Same signs = add absolute value and use the same sign.
  • Different signs = greater absolute value - lesser and uset the sign of the greater absolute value
  • 1.When adding integers with the same sign, you add their absolute values and copy the common sign. 2. When adding integers with different signs, you subtract their absolute values and copy the sign of the integer with the larger absolute value.
