Cards (3)

  • What is accommodation?
Ability to look at near and distant objects is an example of a reflex
Its an automatic reaction, not controlled by the conscious brain
Eye focuses light on the retina by changing the shape of the lens
  • Looking at near objects
    To focus on near objects:
    1. Cillary muscles contracts
    2. Suspensory ligaments loosen
    3. the lens is then thicker and refracts light rays strongly
  • Looking at distant objects
    To focus on distant objects:
    1. Cillary muscles relax
    2. Suspensory ligaments are pulled tight
    3. the lens is then pulled thin and only slightly refracts light rays
