  • validity - the degree to which a test measures what it is supposed to measure
  • reliability - the extent to which if the research is repeated, it would give the same results
  • representativeness - the extent to which a sample is similar to the target population
  • generalisability - the extent to which the findings of a study can be applied to other situations
  • Pilot studies - a small scale study to test the feasibility of a larger study. It makes sure that the data produced is the data that the researcher wants.
  • respondant validation - process where a researcher provides the participants with an account of their findings, and ask for feedback. It eradicates bias.
