  • Humans seen as information processors
  • Information received from senses and processed by the brain how this processing directs how we behave and how we store and retrieve information that affects our behaviour.
  • Cognitive psychologists work out what thought process are occurring from the behaviour an experiment causes
  • Use scientific methods to study human behaviour
  • These mental process can’t be studied directly so instead studied indirectly by inferring what cognitions/ thoughts occur
  • Inference/inferring: reaching a logical conclusion on the basis of evidence and reasoning, E.g. more blood going to a part of the brain may show memory or emotions showing what activity in the brain is happening and what its responsible for in the mental process.
