Thoracic cavity

• s the sternum anterior, thoracic vertebrae posterior, ribs lateral and diaphragm inferior.
• Diaphragm is considered the floor of the thoracic cavity
• The chest wall is composed of ribs, sternum, thoracic vertebrae interlaced with intercostal muscle.
• In the thoracic cavity there is the mediastinum which contains the heart, aorta and great vessels, oesophagus, trachea and the thymus.
• Muscles of this cavity include the internal and external intercostal muscle and the diaphragm
