  • Network Protocols are a set of rules for how devices communicate.
  • Every device has a unique number called a MAC Address.
  • MAC addresses are assigned by manufacturers and cant be changed. They are used so devices can be found on a network.
  • Communication on the SAME network uses MAC Addresses.
  • Communication on a DIFFERENT network uses IP Adresses.
  • IP adresses are assigned before the device can access the network.
