what is localisation of brain function?
the idea that certain functions have certain locations within the brain
what is hemispheric lateralisation?
two halves of the brain are functionally different and that each hemisphere has functional specialisations
what is the motor area? 
responsible for voluntary movements
what is the somatosensory area?
recieves incoming sensory information
what is the visual area?
recieves and processes visual information
what is the auditory area?
responsible for analysing and processing acoustic information
what is Broca's area?
left frontal lobe involved in language production
what is wernike's area?
left temporal lobe involved in language comprehension
what is split brain research?
the corpus callosum, connecting the two hemispheres is cut.
what is placticity? 
brains ability to chains and adapt because of injury and damage
what is functional recovery?
transfer of functions from a damaged area of the brain after trauma to to undamaged areas
