copper sulphate
copper oxide is a
solid black powder
step for making soluble salt crystals:
add a
fixed
amount of
sulfuric acid
this will be the
limiting
reactant
none should be remaining after the reaction
heat the
acid
till its
almost
boiling
add
copper oxide
bit by bit
stir with a
glass rod
the solution will turn
blue
stop adding more
copperoxide
when the powder remains in the solution in
excess
filter
the excess
copper oxide
out
heat the
copper sulphate
solution in an
evaporating basin
leave it to cool for
24 hours
pat crystals dry
