Computer Models

Cards (3)

  • What are computer models?
An analogy used in cognitive psychology to help us to understand internal mental processes, such as how we process information. The model states that we do this in a series of stages: --> Input --> Process/Storage --> Output/Retrieval
  • Give an example of how humans process information?
    • Input: hearing the dog bark
    • Process: registering/remembering that your dog is outside
    • Output: behaviour - bringing the dog inside
  • How is a computer model similar to the human brain?
    • Inputs and outputs
    • Storage systems
    • Central processor
