  • Research title
    Summarizes the main idea/s of your study. A good title contains the fewest possible words needed to adequately describe the content and/or purpose of your research paper. 
  • Importance of a research title
    It is the most important because it is the part of the paper that is read the most and is usually read first.
  • Characteristics of a good title
    • It should predict the content of the research paper. 
    • It should be interesting to the reader. 
    • It should reflect the tone of the writing. 
    • It contains important keywords that will make it easier to locate during a keyword search. 
  • A research title describes: the topic, the method, the sample, the results of your study.
  • Descriptive titles

    describe the subject of the article but do not reveal the main conclusions.
  • Interrogative titles

    Introduce the subject in a form of a question

    Avoid unnecessary words and jargons, keep it concise, use 10 to 15 substantive words, avoid using "a study to investigate the" or "an examination of the" unless they are necessary to convey the scope intent or type of the study, use descriptive phrases to convey the purpose of your research efficiently, use critical keywords in the title to increase the discoverability of your article.
