Linea nigra: darkening of pigmented areas, first trimester of pregnancy
Melasma: irregular, sharply marginated areas of pigmentation in a symmetrical pattern, either on the forehead and temples, or central face. Develops in the second half of pregnancy
Melanocytic naevi - may show transient changes in clinical and dermoscopic appearance, but any signs suggestive of melanoma should be investigated
Common vascular changes:
Non-pitting oedema of the legs due to increased hydrostatic pressure
Varicose veins of the legs, haemorrhoids, and vulvar varicosities are common
Spider telangiectasias: disappear post-partum
Palmar erythema
Pyogenic granuloma
Skin conditions that occur specifically during pregnancy (pregnancy specific dermatoses):
Pemphigoid gestationis
Polymorphic eruption of pregnancy
Prurigo of pregnancy (atopic eruption of pregnancy)
