A technique that enables you to search for a specific information. You move your eyes quickly over the page to find key words that will lead you to a particular answer. You must know what you are looking for. Also used when looking for research materials.
TIPS (RLS)
READ the questions first to know the information you needed.
LOOK for words that are boldfaced, italicized, or underlined.
SEARCH for nouns and verbs.
SKIMMING
Similar to scanning, but you note important titles, subtitles, subheadings and illustrations, which will give you an overview of the article's content.
CLOSE READING
Enables you to extract detailedinformation, to note the sequence of events, and to be aware of patterns, similarities, comparisons and contrasts.
