  • Elements of a genre
    Character, story, plot, setting
  • Character
    A person, animal being, creature, or thing in a story. They are used to perform the actions, speak dialogues, and move the story along a plot line. May be a protagonist or antagonist.
  • Foil character

    A character that has opposite character traits from another, meant to help highlight or bring out another’s positive or negative side.
  • Static
    Characters who do not change throughout the story. They may simply relieve tension, or they were not meant to change.
  • Dynamic
    Characters who change throughout the story. They may learn, become bad, or change in a complex way
  • Flat
    These characters have one or two main traits. It can be positive or negative. They do not change or develop.
  • Round
    These characters may have different traits, good and bad, making them more interesting.
