Cards (2)

  • Muscle Spindle - Neurone Bodies:
    • diagram shows where neurone bodies are for the neurones
    • Type 1A and Type 2 neurones are sensory neurones - all sensory neurone's neurone body (soma) is located in the dorsal root ganglion. Carry information of movement (e.g. lengthening/speed) within the muscle - primary source of proprioceptive information. Goes from sensory receptors through dorsal root, dorsal root ganglion into dorsal horn, then the spinal tracts associated with proprioceptive movements and control e.g. dorsal white columns, spinocerebellar (spinal tracts lecture)
    A) type 1A
    B) type 2
  • Muscle Spindle - Neurone Bodies:
    • diagram shows where neurone bodies are for the neurones
    • the gamma motor neurones are located on the ventral horn of the spinal cord. Alpha motor neurones that supply the muscle are in close proximity to the gamma motor neurones. Gamma motor neurones come out of the ventral root and take the axons to the spindles
    • gamma is not as big as alpha - alpha motor neurones are the largest myelinated motor neurones, gamma are a bit smaller and slower conducting but still myelinated
    A) dynamic gamma motor neurone
    B) static gamma motor neurone
