Cell body - includes a nucleus containing the genetic material of the cell
Dendrites - branchlike structures that protrude from from the cell body. These carry out nerve impulses from the neighbouring neurons towards the cell body.
Axon - carries the electrical impulse away from the cell body down to the length of the neuron.
Synapse - the gap between the end of one neuron to another
Sensory neurons - carry messages from the PNS to the CNS. They have long dendrites and short axons.
Relay neurons - connect sensory neurons to motor or other relayneurons. They have short dendrites and short axons.
Motor neurons - connect the CNS to effectors such as muscles and glands. They have short dendrites and long axons.
