  • Radical feminists
    Radical feminists - Women are oppressed by men in both society and in the family which is patriarchal. The solution is the get rid of the family.
  • Men are the enemy
    Men are the enemy as they are the source of women's oppression and exploitation. E.g. A father giving away his daughter to another man, ownership of women.
  • Dworkin 1981
    Dworkin takes a radical view on marriage, as it is used to possess or own women. "Marriage in an institution developed from rape as a practice. Rape, originally defined as abduction.
  • Promoting Separatism and political lesbianism
    Some radical feminists promote separatism (live independently without men) and political lesbianism to avoid 'sleeping with the enemy'. Greer 2000 advocates all female households known as matrilocal households.
  • Evaluation of radical feminism
    Somerville argues that radical feminism fails to recognise that the position of women has greatly improved. Separatism wouldn't work as we would be unable to reproduce.
