  -Cut off in background music -> serious conversation

  -Camera focuses on who's talking or the other persons reactions - the camera goes out of focus when on Arthur -> implying how much he drinks/dizzy or the confusion he might be feeling

  -Dimly lit room -> create tension between the two

  -Tommy in the shadows
• Camera angle is used t make the horse look big, making Tommy appear taller - emphasising Tommy's triumph + power
• Setting is a reflection of the industrial poverty but not in a negative place
• Tommy + Aunt Polly talking scene?


  -First shot is them in 1/3 of the camera shot

  -In the same shot most of the time -> bond/connection of the two

  -Close up when Tommy is talking -> creates tension, involved in their private conversation

  ->flash back to the crate being stolen -> gives us a better understanding of the crime

  -Aunt Polly walks away -> importance, powerful character
