• Republic Act 9163: National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001, signed by President Macapagal-Arroyo in 2001.
• NSTP: A program designed to enhance civic consciousness and defense preparedness by developing a sense of service and patriotism
• ROTC: Provides military training to students to prepare them for national defense
• Literacy Training Service (LTS): Trains students to teach literacy and numeracy skills to children, out-of-school youth, and others in need.
• Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS): Focuses on activities that benefit the community and enhance quality of life (health, education, environment, etc.).
• ROTC graduates become part of the Citizen Armed Force (RA 7077).
• Non-ROTC graduates join the National Reserve Service Corps (NSRC), to be mobilized during emergencies.
