  Patriarchy- nuclear family exploits women because men control money and make decisions

  womens unpaid work- women do domestic labour but don’t receive financial reward. Instead financially depend of husbands.
• Gender socialisation- Children are socialised into gender roles through gendered toys, leisure activities and behaviour expectations

  Dual burden ( Oakley )- Women do paid work and then also do the majority of the domestic labour

  & childcare

  triple shift- Women do paid work, domestic labour & childcare, and also the emotional work of being concerned about the welfare of the family
