  • Soluble salts can be created by reacting an acid with an insoluble base:
    • Add base to acid to produce soluble salt and water
    • Excess solid will sink to the bottom of the flask
    • Filter solution to remove excess solid and leave only salt and water
    • Heat solution to evaporate some water and allow to try
    • Allow it to crystallize and filter solid and leave to dry
  • To make a pure sample of insoluble salt, a precipitation reaction can be used:
    • Pick two soluble salts and react them
