Fezziwig

• Why it's old Fezziwig! Bless his heart, it's Fezziwig alive again 


  Suprisingly, Scrooge is excited about seeing Fezziwig after all this time. The exclamation suggests that Scrooge is genuinly please to be seeing his 'old' boss again – juxtaposes our intitial thoughts of Scrooges and his cold-hearted nature.
• Comfortable, oily, rich, fat, jovial voice 


  Asyndetic list of adjectives – a variety of words to describe him suggesting he was a character full of lots of emotion and well-liked by many. He is affluent but utilises it in a kind way – not a selfish way like Scrooge – by enjoying life.
• Fezziwig skipping down from the high desk with wonderful agility 


  Despite his age and wealth, Fezziwig is excitable and happy to skip around joyfully. The fact that he is 'skipping down' suggests that he wants to be seen on the same level as his employees and he is also excited for the party he is throwing. 
• The warehouse was as snug and warm and dry and bright a ball-room as you would desire to see upon a winter's night 

  Fezziwig ensures that his workplace is 'warm' and comfortable for not just him but his employees. He acts from the pure kindness of his heart, he does not act selfishly or arrogantly like his foil Scrooge does.
• Beaming and lovable 


  The Fezziwig's are described in a positive way; they are kind and hospitable. This idea that they are 'beaming' suggesting they have an approachable, comfortable demeanour about them. This juxtaposes the earlier description of Scrooge never being 'stopped...in the street' - highlights the drastic different between Scrooge and Fezziwig.
• A positive light appeared to issue from Fezziwig's calves 


  Fezziwig seems so be glowing with joy and happiness -  he is the star of the scene and is making everyone around him feel comfortable dancing with him.  
• Shaking hands with every person individually 


  He takes the time to welcome everyone and makes them feel cared for. Emphasis on him 'individually' greeting everyone highlights his good-hearted nature.
• He has the power to render us happy or unhappy
