How is a dipeptide formed? 
Two amino acids bond together in a condensation reaction to form a dipeptide and a water molecule. The bond produced is called a peptide bond.
How are polypeptides formed? 
The bonding of many amino acids together.
What does the biuret test detect? 
Peptide bonds.
What are the two components of biuret reagent? 
Dilute copper sulphate and sodium hydroxide.
Primary protein structure. 
This is the sequence of amino acids in the polypeptide chain.
Secondary protein structure. 
The way the chain folds or turns on itself (alpha helix and beta pleated sheet) as a result of hydrogen bonding.
Tertiary protein structure. 
The way in which the chain coils up to form a precise 3D shape. This shape is specific and determines the biological function of the protein.
How is the tertiary shape maintained?
