Dentition

• 1st 6 months - eruption of the 1st temporary teeth = lower central incisor
• 2 1/2 years old - eruption of 20 pieces of deciduous teeth
• 2 1/2 years old - age of first dental visit
• Pre-school: bruxism - clenching or grinding of the teeth
• 6 years old - eruption of the first permanent teeth
• First permanent teeth - 1st molar
• 12 years old = eruption of the 2nd molar
• 17-21 years old - eruption of the final motor = wisdom tooth
• Adult - 32 total teeth
