      when psychologists interpret all behaviour through the lens of their own culture. Thus, ignoring the effects that cultural differences might have on behaviour

      the view that one cultural group is superior to all other cultural groups. there is a tendency to view the beliefs, customs and behaviours of your own cultural group as normal
    • etic approach
      looks at behaviour from outside of a given culture and describes behaviours as being universal
    • emic approach
      looks at behaviour from inside a given culture and identifies behaviours that are specific to that culture.
