  It is usually caused by Haemophilus Influenzae Type B

  Manifestations: 4Ds

  • dysphagia
  • drooling
  • dyspnea
  • dysphonia
• Epiglottitis

  Prepare tracheostomy set at bedside.
• Epiglottitis

  Avoid checking the throat and throat culture!

  Remember - stimulation of the throat may cause further spasm of the airways
