  • less likely affected by demand characteristics, partic not know they in research = less likely to adapt behaviour accordingly

  • cause & effect relationship established, IV direct effect on DV
• Weaknesses


  • cause & effect relationship more difficult to establish compared to lab as less control over situational variables

  • research more difficult to replicate = lower external reliability, unlike lab where exact conditions replicatable
