Positivists
prefer
experiments
as they believe we can measure social variables
objectively
to collect valid infomation
Positivists state that experiments are
reliable
and
objective
providing
quantitative
data and can therefore analyze the
numerical
findings.
They can then see a
cause
and
effect
relationship aiming to generalize the findings to a wider population.
Experiments are easier to replicate than other methods as they can be repeated under the same conditions to see if they obtain similar results.
( Works better with
lab
experiments )
If the findings are similar, then the results will have
internal
validity
and
reliability.
Laboratory
experiments have a high level of control meaning you can control variables which allows you to establish a
cause
and
effect
relationship.
