  • Positivists prefer experiments as they believe we can measure social variables objectively to collect valid infomation
  • Positivists state that experiments are reliable and objective providing quantitative data and can therefore analyze the numerical findings.
    They can then see a cause and effect relationship aiming to generalize the findings to a wider population.
  • Experiments are easier to replicate than other methods as they can be repeated under the same conditions to see if they obtain similar results.
    ( Works better with lab experiments )
    • If the findings are similar, then the results will have internal validity and reliability.
  • Laboratory experiments have a high level of control meaning you can control variables which allows you to establish a cause and effect relationship.
