Research to support the internal working model

• P- Bailey et al (2007) assessed attachment relationship in 99 mothers and their one year old babies
• E- the researcher measured the mothers attachment to their own primary attachment figure. The researcher also assessed the quality of the babies
• E- they found that mothers with poor attachment to their own primary attachment figures were more likely to have poorly attached babies
• L- this supports Bowlby’s idea that mothers have the ability to form attachment to their babies is influenced by their internal working model
