  • Dictatorship- a form of government which one person or group of people have absolute power.
  • The Reichstag Fire
    • 27th Feb 1933, Reichstag building was destroyed by a massive fire
    • Hitler convinced Hinderburg to declare a state of emergency
    • Hitler used Article 28 to overrule Reichstag political opponents, ban communist newspapers and promote SA violence
    • Believed to be a Dutch communist called Van der Lubbe
  • The Enabling Act
    • The Reichstag voted by the required 2-3rd majority to quire Hitler the right to make laws without the Reichstag's approval for 4 years.
    • Was established on 23rd of March 1933
    • This removed the Reichstag as a source of opposition.
