• the boys resisted attempts to indoctrinate them by rejecting the schools values. boys apart of the anti school subculture tend to underachieve and take up lower paying jobs. (they are not rewarded)
• The lads had low aspirations because their parents also had low aspirations due to lack of social mobility.
