  Humans motivated by material rewards, still encourage community values and argue capitalism can cause excessive materialism.

  Equal opportunity.

  Society inevitably unequal, all entitled to minimum standard of living.

  Done through means tested welfare, 'level playing ground'.

  E.g, Tony Blair means tested uni fees.
• Class


  Weak working class solidarity due to industry decline.

  Appeal to non manual workers.

  State provide welfare.

  Moved to classless concerns, green and feminist issues.

  At the time expanding middle class.
