    Illnesses that, by law, must be reported to health authorities when diagnosed
    Facilitates surveillance & control of diseases → help to prevent of limit outbreaks
    Notification process involves completing a specified form upon diagnosis or suspicion of a notifiable disease, which is then sent to the relevant local authority
