Hypotheses

    Cards (4)

    • A direction hypothesis is where the researcher clearly lays out what effect they believe the IV will have on the DV, e.g. The amount of sugar someone has will make them more chatty
    • A non-directional hypothesis is where the researcher does not clearly lay out what effect they believe the IV will have on the DV, e.g. the amount of sugar someone has will change how chatty they are
    • Operationalisation is where variables that are more difficult to measure are made quantifiable. E.g. to measure how chatty someone is you can count how many words they say in the next 5 minutes
    • The Experimental method involves manipulating the IV to measure the effect on the DV. They can be Lab, Field, Natural or Quasi experiments.
