• Hoover sent in the army to clear the crowd when police were unsuccessful.
• Army set fire to veterans and their families tents and released tear gas.
• Army used cavalry, infantry and tanks
• Hoover defended the general 'Douglas MacArthur's' actions and burning of Veterans encampment.
• Resulted in the deaths of 2 veterans, an 11 week old baby and thousands of gas related injuries.
• Former Republican Governor of Oregan stated ' any Democrat save a convicted rapist or murderer would have beaten hoover'.
