• Told New York state legislature that government relief for unemployed was a 'social duty'.
• Roosevelt blamed Hoover for the Wall Street Crash and The Great Depression
• Roosevelt won in a landslide in 1932, but was inaugurated until March 1933 because the 20tn Amendment was not yet in force.
• Republican Editor, Robert Morss Lovett said in relation to Hoover during Roosevelts campaign, that no other president had ' given his name up so liberally to latrines and offal dups, or had his face banished from the screen to avoid the hoots and cheers from children.'
