  • The eight major glands in the endocrine system are 

    pituitary.
    Thyroid
    Pineal
    Parathyroid
    Thymus
    Pancreas
    gonads (test , ovaries). Hypothalamus
  • The thyroid produces thyroxine which is released into the bloodstream 3-4 times a day
    • responsible for regulating metabolic rate
    • Growth
    • Maturation
  • The pineal gland is located in the brain and secretes melatonin, which is a hormone that regulates sleep and wake cycles
  • The pituitary gland is known as the master gland and releases hormones to control other glands in the endocrine system
  • The parathyroid gland produces 2 hormones: calcitonin and parathyroid hormone to regulate mineral levels in the body
