  • What is the difference between primary and secondary data

    Primary data is collected specifically for the purpose of the current study, secondary is data that was collected previously for a different study or purpose

    Quantitative data is numerical, qualitative data expresses the ‘quality’ of things - descriptions, words, meanings, pictures etc

    • Represents complexity of human behaviour
    • Greater validity - provides rich details of how people think

    • easier to analyse
    • More objective approach - greater validity

    • may not express views precisely - less validity than asking someone to describe their views
    • oversimplifies reality and human experiences - reductionist approach
  • What is the definition of correlation
    A relationship between two measured variables so that a change in one variable indicates a change in the other
