The nervous system
Peripheral nervous system: sends information from the CNS to the outside world. Sends messages from the CNS to muscles and glands
Spinal cord: a column of nerves between the brain and PNS
Brain stem: connects to the brain and spinal cord

Brain: divided into 3 major parts: hindbrain (lower brain), midbrain, forebrain
Autonomic nervous system: sends information to and from internal bodily organs. Autonomic (involuntary) and made up of two parts: sympathetic and parasympathetic
Somatic nervous system: sends information from receptor cells in organs to the CNS. Receives information from the CNS to muscle cells
