  • Adrenal: adrenaline makes the heart beat faster and lungs breathe more efficiently causing the blood vessels to send more blood to the brain, making the brain more alert
  • Thyroid: triiodothyronine and thyroxine is secreted here. It plays an important role in the regulation of weight, energy levels, internal temperature, skin, hair, nail growth, metabolism
  • Pituitary: FSH which stimulates sperm production and stimulates the ovaries to produce oestrogen. LH stimulates ovulation
  • Hypothalamus: dopamine and oxytocin and many more are produced here. It facilitates childbirth and the release of a mothers breast Milk
  • Pineal: melatonin which helps the body control day and night sleep patterns and is the body’s internal clock.
  • Thymus: only active at puberty
  • Pancreas: regulates blood sugar
