What is an aim?
A statement of what the researcher intends to find out in a research study
What are extraneous variables 
A variable that might affect the dependent variable
What are the ethical considerations? 
Never use anyone under 16 as a participant
Always obtain informed consent from all participants
Debrief participants after the study and allow them to withdraw data if they object
What is the independent variable?  
An event that is directly manipulated by an experimenter in order to test it's effect on another variable (dependent variable)
What is a hypothesis?  
A precise and testable statement about the assumed relationship between the variables. Operationalisation is key part of making a statement testable
what does operationalise mean  
Ensuring variables are in a form that can be easily tested
