• Bacteria are single celled organisms smaller than normal cells
• Bacteria have a cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm and plasmids
• Bacteria lack a nucleus- contains circular DNA called plasmids or a single DNA loop
• Some bacteria can photosynthesise but most feed off other living or dead organisms
